Cloudflare to Run Ethereum Nodes

On Monday cloud flare announces its getting into the Ethereum game. Cloudflare in a blog post statement said…

“Cloudflare is going to participate in the research and development of the core infrastructure that helps keep Ethereum secure, fast, as well as energy-efficient for everyone. These nodes will serve as a testing ground for research on energy efficiency, consistency management, and network speed,”

Committing to open a node is not a cheap adventure at 32 ETH or  $64,907. Cloudflare runs the internets largest denial of service (DDoS) mitigation platform.  Cloudflare announced  that ETH will be first in line to market test, but other proof of stake chains may be looked at in the future.

“The energy required to operate a Proof of Stake validator node is magnitudes less than a Proof of Work miner. Early estimates from the Ethereum Foundation estimate that the entire Ethereum network could use as little as 2.6 megawatts of power. Put another way, Ethereum will use 99.5% less energy post-merge than today.”

The company didn’t confirm who their next WEB 3 partner would be but you have to speculate Polygon Matic is on the list. An established proof of stake ecosystem with a market cap over 5.5 billion at the time of writing this.
